No place for arrogance in democracy, says Modi

Daltonganj, Nov 21 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday mentioned that there is no place for arrogance in democracy. He was addressing a public rally at Daltonganj in poll-bound Jharkhand.

Modi in his speech started to highlight the state government's failure to develop Jharkhand.

Prime Minister said, it is due to state government's failure said despite there being huge natural resources, Jharkhand still remained poor.

Modi said, "The natural resources you see here, Australia also has - what is the reason that Jharkhand is poor and Australia is rich? This land is rich but the people here have remained poor due to successive governments."

"The poor people are rich at heart.. I'd said they will be able to open zero-balance accounts but they put in their money - these accounts have accumulated 7000 crores," he added.

He asked people to vote against caste-based politics and give way to development.

"I need your blessings to change the situation in Jharkhand. We have spent 60 years in trouble - we have seen the ills of casteism, provincialism. There is just one way out for this country - development," he said.

Modi asserted that if BJP is given a chance to serve Jharkhand, then they will change the future.

"India is progressing at a rapid pace. Jharkhand cannot lag behind. I'm here to embrace Jharkhand, to do whatever I can for you. Give me a chance to serve you, to change the future of Jharkhand. What does a farmer want? If he gets water, he can turn the produce from the land into gold ."

"Do you want Jharkhand to progress? If you want that then you must rid Jharkhand of this 'family' politics. How they've looted Jharkhand and they have no shame or remorse. They knew that if a minister from the Modi government came here they would be exposed... that is why they say we will not let a minister from Delhi come here."

"But these people drunk on power must know that there is no place for arrogance in a democracy," he added.

Prime Minister said: "Whenever I meet a world leader, the thing foremost on my mind is how can we benefit the adivasis, the dalits and the economically backward sections of the population in India."

Modi added, "I do not make huge announcement - I want to build toilets for the women of this country. If we rid this country of these small ills, there is no stopping India from growing."
