Mumbai/UNI: Although there was a spurt in COVID positive cases, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday said there will be no immediate imposition of lockdown in the state.

Speaking to meadiapersons after a meeting to review 'Corona', headed by Deputy chief Minister Ajit Pawar here Wednesday morning, Tope said a decision on the imposition of lockdown will be taken at a task force meeting.

Today, it was decided to introduce additional restrictions to combat virus infection amid rising covid-19 and omicron variants cases in the state.

At the meeting it was decided to improve 'testing' and not to depend only on RTPCR and Antigen test and its record would be maintained. We have target two lakh testing per day, so it is not possible without Antigen test.

People should also be encouraged to take a second dose of vaccine.

Wearing a mask is a must and most important is to avoid incoming crowds. The government has appealed to citizens not to crowd any place.

The meeting was chaired by the deputy chief Minister, Ajit Pawar and was attended by Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope and senior bureaucrats.
