No democracy in Congress, says BJP president Amit Shah

Guwahati, Feb 17 (IBNS): BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday has hit out at Congress and said it was a family party that did not have any place for democracy in it.

While addressing a public rally after performed Bhoomi Pujan of the new office building of Assam State BJP in Guwahati, Amit Shah said  there was no democracy in the Congress party that had ruled the nation for 55 years.

“When the party became a family party, then the owners makes the son as the party president whether he is fit for it or not... Hard work does not a matter. He is born in the family, that’s all,” Shah said.

“The party which is not democratic cannot strengthen the country's democracy,” Shah said.

Amit Shah added that there were many political parties working to strengthen the country's democracy in their own way, but the BJP is a different kind of political party.

“Our party’s internal democracy has kept equality today. BJP is not a family party. BJP is a party of its workers. BJP is not a regional political party... it is a party spreading from Kamrup to Kutch and Kashmir to Kanyakumari,” Amit Shah said.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister of State of Railways Rajen Gohain, state BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass, BJP MPs, MLAs were present at the meeting.

Earlier, Amit Shah had addressed a meeting of BJP Yuva Morcha held at Lakhimpur.
