No bar in publication of newspapers in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 10 (IBNS): Defeating the rumours in the wake of scrapping Article 370 and a security lockdown in Kashmir Valley, the newspapers in Jammu and Kashmir are getting published regularly, IBNS has learnt.
IBNS accessed images of several newspapers of Kashmir which are being circulated in the region as usual.
Several news reports had claimed that newspapers are not getting published in Jammu and Kashmir.
The reports came days after the Centre scrapped Articles 370 and 35A to do away with Jammu and Kashmir' special status.
The government has also bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir with an assembly and Ladakh without an assembly.
Several Kashmir leaders including former Chief Ministers- Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti- have been kept under detention.
Article 35A of the Indian Constitution allowed the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and also provided special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.
Article 370 allowed Jammu and Kashmir to have its own constitution, flag and right to handle its own laws except on matters that impact national security.
