NIA says arrested terrorist suspects in Hderabad pledged allegiance to IS
Hyderabad, July 3 (IBNS): In a significant development since the arrest of five terrorists in Hyderabad, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday revealed the suspects pledged allegiance to the terror outfit Islamic State.
The investigating agency also said that thy had money transactions from Middle East on several occasions through ‘hawala’, media reports said.
On June 29, the NIA busted with local police a suspected cell of ISIS in Hyderabad and held about 11 people allegedly involved in running the unit which was planning several terror strikes.
Based on the revelations in course of their examination and on the basis of evidence collected during the search, five persons were arrested by the NIA for their involvement in the conspiracy.
Media reports had said that a major terror plot was unearthed in the city known as a global IT hub.
According to NIA statement, police had recovered arms, explosives and money during the raids.
Across the country several ISIS arrests have been made in the past months.
