New Delhi/IBNS: Nepali Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday thanked his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for helping his country to repatriate its citizens who were stranded in war-hit Ukraine.

Four Nepali nationals have arrived in Nepal from Ukraine through India.

Deuba tweeted, "Four Nepali nationals have just arrived in Nepal from Ukraine via India. Thank you Prime Minister @narendramodi and the Government of India for the assistance in repatriating Nepali nationals through the #OperationGanga."

Under its evacuation mission dubbed as Operation Ganga, India has rescued citizens, mostly students, from various other countries including Pakistan and Bangladesh who were stranded in Ukraine, which is fighting a war against Russia.

Earlier Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had thanked Modi for helping her country in the evacuation measure.

The war between Russia and Ukraine entered the third week on Thursday.
