Nepal PM arrives in New Delhi on four-day visit to India

New Delhi, Sep 15 (IBNS): Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, arrived in New Delhi on Thursday on a four-day visit to India, according to media reports.

Prime Minister Dahal was received by the Union Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, on his arrival in New Delhi.

Dahal will make his first foreign visit since taking over as the prime minister of the Himalayan nation last month.

"The Rt. Hon’ble Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal, is paying a State Visit to India from September 15 to 18, 2016 at the cordial invitation of the Prime Minister of India, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi," read a Nepal government statement.

"The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Sita Dahal. He will be staying at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi as the State Guest of the Government of India," it said.

The Nepal Prime Minister will attend a reception to be hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi on Thursday.

On Sept 16, he will attend the Ceremonial Reception and inspect a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

He will then pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

On the same day, Dahal will pay call on Indian President  Pranab Mukherje and hold official meeting with Indian PM Narendra Modi.

During the visit, the Nepal Prime Minister will inspect Nathpa Jhakri Hydropower Project in Himanchal Pradesh and visit Patanjali Yogpeeth and its industrial or manufacturing units in Haridwar.

He will leave for Nepal on Sep 18.
