NDBF(S) camp busted in Kokrajhar, one militant killed, arms recovered
Guwahati, May 8 (IBNS): Security forces busted a major hideout of NDFB(S) and a hardcore militant of the outfit was killed in an encounter in Assam's Kokrajhar district on Thursday night, police said on Friday.
Security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the hideout area.
Based on intelligence input, army, Assam Police and SSB jointly launched an operation led by BTAD IGP Dr LR Bisnoi in jungle area of West Leupani Nala in Chirang Reserve Forest, three km from Ultapani village in Kokrajhar district and busted a major hideout of NDFB(S).
During the search operation, an encounter took place with NDFB(S) terrorists in which one militant was killed.
“It is suspected that some top leaders of NDFB(S) who were in charge ofAdivasis massacre on Dec 23 last year, were in the group with whom contact was established,” BTAD IGP Dr LR Bisnoi said.
The slain militant was identified as Busha Brahma alias Bushum.
Security forces recovered one factory made 7.65mm pistol, one country made rifle, 200 rounds of AK-47, 14 grenades, 150 Kg of ration, large number of blankets and other war like stores from the hideout area.
In another joint operation launched by army and police based on specific information provided by Eastern Command Intelligence, the security forces nabbed a NDFB (S) militant from Chhaygaon area on Friday.
The nabbed militant was identified as Bisonjit Mushahary alias Tarjan and recovered ten AK-47 round (7.62mm) ammunition, one 7.65Mm round ammunition, one 7.65mm pistol magazine, three detonators, one safety fuze wire, one mobile phone, one SIM card and a personal diary in possession from him.
