NC senior leader offers support to PDP
Speaking to a gathering in Sarnal area of south Kashmir's Anantnag, Mehboob Beg, the former NC parliamentarian said that he will not contest assembly election and shall support the PDP.
Beg, who lost the parliamentary elections to Mufti's daughter Mehbooba Mufti earlier this year, said he would campaign 'door-to-door' the former chief minister Sayeed during the assembly polls in the state.
Sources in the party told IBNS that Mehboob lashed out at the National Conference party- led by CM Omar Abdullah for not taking serious steps for development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Beg was the NC candidate in the 2014 Indian parliamentary polls but lost by over 40,000 votes to PDP president Mehbooba from Anantnag.
He was a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for two terms during 1983-1987 and 2002-2008.
During March 2009 to May 2009, he was member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council.
He is a medical practitioner and studied MBBS from Srinagar Medical College and resides at Srinagar. Has also served in the Cabinet as one of the ace ministers of the state.
Meanwhile People Democratic Party senior leader Nizam- u- din Bhat told IBNS: "We are welcoming this step which was taken by NC senior leader Mirza Mehboob Beigh."
Bhat said that leaders are now realizing that 'who is good and bad'.
He further said that it is now on party high command whether they will allow him to join the party or not.
