Navjot Singh Sidhu to be released from Patiala prison tomorrow

| @indiablooms | Mar 31, 2023, at 09:09 pm

Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was sentenced by the Supreme Court to one year in jail in a road-rage incident in which a man was killed 34 years ago, will be released from prison on Saturday, his official Twitter handle informed by posting a message.

"This is to inform everyone that Sardar Navjot Singh Sidhu will be released from Patiala Jail tomorrow. (As informed by the concerned authorities)," Sidhu tweeted.

Following his conviction by the Supreme Court in a 34-year-old case, Navjot Singh Sidhu has been incarcerated at Patiala Central Jail since May 2022.

In its ruling, the court emphasized that a lenient sentence would be detrimental to the justice system and erode public trust in the effectiveness of the law.

The case pertains to the death of a 65-year-old man named Gurnam Singh, whose demise occurred in the same incident.
