Narendra Modi must explain fall of rupee: Yashwant Sinha
Bhopal/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi came in the line of fire of the Opposition’s presidential candidate and erstwhile Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha who expressed concern on Thursday over the decline of rupee against dollar and felt that either Modi himself or the Centre ought to furnish an explanation to the citizenry.
“When Mr Modi assumed the nation’s reins in 2014, the dollar was worth Rs 58.44 but that figure has since increased to Rs 79.86, which translates into a tumble of unprecedented proportions for us.
"Despite that, the dispensation is silent over the issue. During Dr Manmohan Singh’s prime ministerial tenure, Mr Modi expected a response from the former over the same matter,” the visiting leader told media representatives in Bhopal following a meeting with Congress legislators ahead of the presidential election.
Among those present was Congress Kangana state head and ex-Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
