Narendra Modi, Ashraf Ghani inaugurate Stor Palace through VC

Kabul/New Delhi, Aug 22 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani through video conferencing as the duo inaugurated the renovated Stor Palace in Kabul.

PM Modi highlighted India's strong relationship with Afghanistan in his speech.

"Salma Dam will renew not just the economy and agriculture of Afghanistan's Herat, but will build a strong pillar of support for Afghan's overall growth. And the Afghanistan and Iran transit corridor (deal) that we signed this year is another landmark in our partnership," the Prime Minister said.

The Salma Dam was built by India in Afghanistan's Herat province.

Ghani, the Afghan president thanked India for helping the nation in renovating the historic structure.

"I express my most sincere appreciation for the government of India and its people," he said.

Afghanistan's declaration of Independence was also signed in one of the rooms in Stor Palace in 1919.
