| @indiablooms | May 17, 2021, at 02:53 pm

Kolkata: Kolkata Mayor and West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim on Monday said he has been arrested in connection with the Narada sting operation.

"I have been arrested in the Narada case by CBI," Hakim told reporters.

"We will see the matter in court," he said.

Central forces arrived at his residence in the morning to take him away.

West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar earlier sanctioned CBI investigations against Hakim and three others which include state minister Subrata Mukherjee , TMC leader Madan Mitra and former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee.

TMC workers are demonstrating on the street near Hakim's residence in Chetla to protest against his arrest.

News portal Narada News released several sting operation footage, where TMC's leaders, ministers, MPs and MLAs were exposed while allegedly taking bribes.

From the beginning, TMC leaderships had claimed that the sting footage was doctored and conspiracy of oppositions.
