New Delhi: The Centre is ready to announce 24 Bills in the Monsoon Session of parliament, starting on July 18 Monday and will conclude on August 12.

The Bills to be introduced in the upcoming session include Cantonment Bill, the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Bill, the Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill, the Development of Enterprises and Services Hubs Bill, which proposes to revise the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and frame rules, the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) (Amendment) Bill, the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill and the Competition (Amendment) Bill.

Two separate bills for the Constitution amendment to revise the list of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) for Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu are also listed for introduction.

Further, eight more bills are awaiting approval in both Houses of parliament.

This Monsoon Session will also witness the election of the President and the Vice-President.

On the first day of the Session, the MPs will vote for the Presidential elections in the polling booths in Parliament, followed by the counting of votes on July 21.

The Congress party is planning to raise the issues of surging inflation, rising fuel prices, the Agnipath scheme, unemployment and the fall of the Rupee against the Dollar.

Congress met Thursday to fix a strategy to take on the government in the Monsoon Session.

It also plans to demand debate and discussions in both houses of parliament over continued tension on the eastern Ladakh border with China, weakening military capacity, continued misuse of agencies/institutions and attack on democracy.

Meanwhile, the BJP called a party meeting on Sunday morning at the Parliament Annexe building, seeking smooth functioning of the Monsoon Session.

The Opposition, too, is expected to call an all-party meet on Sunday to discuss the strategies for the upcoming Monsoon Session. An invite has been also sent to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for the meet.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla appealed to all the parties to make the Monsoon Session productive.
