Modi's Govt never acted on corruption, UPA Govt did : Manmohan Singh

| @indiablooms | Dec 07, 2017, at 09:11 pm

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IBNS) : Assailing BJP's claim of transparency and good governance, former Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh on Thursday accused  the NDA Government of not taking action against corruption, saying  that the previous UPA Government dealt strictly with individuals facing corruption allegations.

"Whoever faced corruption allegations during UPA was dealt with strictly, but the same cannot be said about BJP, they have not acted on corruption in their rule," Singh said while addressing a programme in poll-bound Gujarat's Rajkot.

The former Prime Minister  also rubbished Modi’s charges of not paying heed to Narmada issue. He said,"Modiji says he took up Narmada issue with me but I don't remember him talking to me about this issue."

Singh said he had never refused meeting the chief ministers as it was his responsibility meeting all the chief ministers.

Speaking on the economic scenario, the former Prime Minister said the BJP-led  Government  cannot equal economic growth achieved during UPA's 10 year average. He said the Centre has to register 10.6 percent growth in the fifth year to match the previous regime.

"I would be happy if it were to happen but I frankly do not think it will," Singh said.
