Modi's chest will shrink in six months: Rahul Gandhi's counter to PM's political damad comment
Jaipur, Jul 17 (IBNS) Less than an hour after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig targeting Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi shot back, trying to pay in the same coin- corruption and favouritism.
He said what are happening around will make Modi's inflated chest shrink in the next six months.
"In six months Narendra Modi's 56-inch chest will become a 5.6-inch chest," he said while speaking at a programme In BJP-ruled Rajasthan.
Gandhi, who is on a political campaign tour in Rajasthan criticised the Modi government's various policies and slammed the BJP for shielding Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj allegedly for having close ties with scam-tainted Lalit Modi, the former IPL boss.
"Raje broke the law of this country, helped a wanted fugitive," Gandhi alleged.
"This is a Lalit Modi's government. The Rajasthan government's remote control is in London. They press the button and she jumps."
"Modi ji, bring Lalit Modi back...He is a fugitive, he violated financial laws," he said.
Lalit Modi is wanted in corruption cases, including money laundering, linked to the Indian Premier League.
The Congress has demanded that Ms Raje and Ms Swaraj be sacked and has said it will allow no legislative business in the session till the PM speaks in parliament on the issue.
Earlier, PM Modi slammed dynastic politics and took a dig at those sons-in-law who bask in the glory of their fathers-in-law" in what is believed to be a hint at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra.
He made the made the crafty remark without taking any name while speaking in Jammu, on the centenary of former state minister Girdhari Lal Dogra, a Congress politician.
"Mr Dogra was a good judge of character. The example is the sons in law he chose," the Prime Minister said in a lighter vein in an obvious reference to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, son-in-law of the late politician.
"In this case, the son-in-law is not known for his father-in-law and the father-in-law is not known for his son-in-law. There are some sons in law who do not bask in their in-laws' glory. Both took their own routes in public life. But today, we all know how political damads can be," he had quipped.
