Thiruvananthapuram, May 9 (IBNS): Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he cannot take away her commitment to and love for India.

Calling India her country, Gandhi said: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot take away my commitment to and love for India, my country."

"India is my home. It is here that I will breathe my last. It is here that my ashes will mingle with my loved ones," he said.

Referring to her background. Sonia Gandhi said she came to India as the daughter-in-law of former Indian PM Indira Gandhi.

"Yes, I was born in Italy. I came to India in 1968 as the daughter in law of Indira Gandhi," the Congress supremo said.
