Meerut, Mar 28 (UNI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday during his maiden election campaign in Uttar Pradesh presented a new narrative of the Mahagathbandhan of SP, RLD and BSP by terming them as 'Sharab' or liquor.

"Sapa (SP) ka 'sha', RLD ka 'Raa' aur Baspa (BSP) ka 'ba', matlab 'sharab'...Sapa, RLD, Baspa, ye 'sharab' aapko barbaad kar degi (Taking the first alphabets of SP, RLD and BSP -the word Sharab or liquor was made. This Sharab will destroy you," PM said during the end of his speech with appealing to the people not to support this adulterated opposition.

"You know that liquor is always bad for health, society and even for the country. Hence, you should be beware of this alliance," he said.

The PM also questioned that once a dreaded enemy of each other the SP and BSP have now joined hands. "This shows how these parties are trying to fool the people and their effort to come to power and loot the exchequer once again," he said.

He said that in 2019, the Lok Sabha polls contest is between a decisive government and an indecisive past.

He said that on one side there is a strong 'chowkidar' and on the other, a line of tainted people.

PM told the crowd when they press the "lotus" button, their vote will directly be for Modi. He also sought the people's blessings to fight against black-money and terrorism.

He said that he needed public support to make UP-a "Uttam Pradesh".

The Congress was quick to attack the PM on his comment.

"Does this kind of talk befit a Prime Minister? You are calling three political parties sharab? Is this the way a PM talks?" Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said in Delhi.
