Missing chopper spotted in thick forest in Arunachal, rescue ops continue

Guwahati, Aug 4 (IBNS) : A Pawan Hans chopper, which had gone missing on Tuesday morning, was spotted in thick forests in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, officials said.

An official of Arunachal Pradesh government said that four people, including the DC of Tirap district on board in the Daulphin N3 helicopter of Pawan Hans,  lost touch with the Air Traffic control after taking off at around 11 am.

Two pilot, one crew member and an IAS officer Kamalesh Joshi were on board in the chopper, which was last located through signal at 11:30 am.

The chopper was on its way from Dibrugarh of Assam to Khunsa in Arunachal Pradesh and then to Longding.

"The chopper had lost touch with Air Traffic Control on the way to Longding from Khunsa, " the official said.

On other hand, rescue team of the IAF, the Army had spotted some helicopter like objects in the dense forests in Tirap district.

The rescue team continued its  operation to find out the missing chopper.
