Washington, Feb 25 (IBNS): Mexico has warned the United States (US) that it may respond in kind if US goes ahead with its unilateral plans to impose a tax on Mexican imports for funding the border wall, media reported on Saturday.

Mexico's Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray Caso said his government could place tariffs on selected goods from US that are reliant on exports to Mexico, media reported.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump said that he plans to start work on the construction of the wall along the US-Mexico border "ahead of schedule".

According to reports, the US government is likely to start accepting design proposals from next month and contracts are expected to be awarded by mid April.
