Meerut, May 11 (IBNS): At least five were injured in clashes which broke out between two groups in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday, reports said.
While no fresh violence was reported from the area on Sunday, the security level has been intensified to avoid any untoward incident.

The incident started around 2 pm on Saturday when a group of people objected to the installation of a water facilitation centre near a mosque in Teergaran area.

A scuffle soon followed.

Some vehicles and kiosks were set ablaze by the mob.

The two groups also pelted stones at each other.

Police reached the spot soon.

According to reports, six hundred policemen from Meerut and nearby districts have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Another 600 soldiers of the paramilitary forces too have been deployed.
