Lucknow, Jan 3 (IBNS) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday slammed the Centre and said it ignored Dalit icons like Kanshi Ram by not giving them Bharat Ratna.

"The Centre government has discriminated against dalit icons. They did not give Bharat Ratna to any of the Dalit icons of the country," Mayawati told media.

She said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government ignored icon like Kanshi Ram.

The Indian government last year decided to confer former Indian Prime Minister and statesman Atal Bihari Vajpayee and late Indian educationist-politician and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya with the highest civilian award  Bharat Ratna.
