Man's bruised body found in Howrah park

Kolkata, July 6 (IBNS): Triggering the panic of a stone-man attack, bruised body of an unknown youth was found on Wednesday morning inside a park in West Bengal's Howrah district.

According to reports, morning walkers spotted the body at Bijayananda Park under Bantra Police Station limits in the early morning and police were called in.

After recovering the body, police have sent it for post mortem. Identity of the killed youth has not been known so far.

Commissioner of Howrah City Police, Debendra Prakash Singh told IBNS, "Body of an unidentified youth was recovered today. We have started investigation into the matter. The youth probably died, after being hit by a stone on his head. A blooded stone was also recovered beside his body."

"There is no scare of a stone-man right now. Investigation is in preliminary level. Our first aim is to identify the victim and catch the accused," Singh further said.

Earlier in 1989, as many as 13 homeless pavement-dwellers, who slept alone in dimly lit areas of Kolkata, were killed after being hit by a heavy stone or concrete slab. The accused has been neither identified nor arrested so far.
