Manipur: Arms-ammunition, IED recovered

Guwahati: Churachandpur Battalion, under the aegis of IGAR (South), in a joint operation with Manipur police, recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from Chinglangmei village, Churachandpur district on Tuesday.

Based on specific inputs, troops of Assam Rifles, along with Manipur police, launched a search operation which led to the recovery of cache which included one 7.62 mm SLR Rifle, one 7.62 mm M-16 Rifle, one 7.62 mm Modified Rifle, one Handheld ICOM radio set with charger, two 7.62 mm SLR magazine, one Chinese hand grenade and fifteen live rounds of diffrent calibers.

The recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to Kumbi police station for further legal action.

On the other hand, Joupi and Phundrei Battalions of Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur police foiled a major terrorist attack by recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near Kuljang village in Chandel district on Monday.
