Mamata Banerjee congratulates Dipa Karmakar

Kolkata, Aug 8 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar after she reached the individual vault finals in her maiden Olympics after finishing 8th in the qualifying stage.

"Congratulations to #DipaKarmakar for her good performance at #Rio2016 #Olympics Best of luck for final. You make us proud," Banerjee tweeted.

Dipa is the first gymnast from India to qualify for the Olympics.

After two attempts, the Tripura girl was able to secure 14.850 points.
