Make Alok Verma meeting minutes public: Mallikarjun Kharge

| @indiablooms | Jan 15, 2019, at 12:27 pm

New Delhi, Jan 15 (IBNS): Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for immediate release of the findings of the CVC, the Justice AK Patnaik report and the minutes of the January 10 meeting that led to the ouster of CBI chief Alok Verma, The Indian Express said.

Kharge was the sole dissenter in the selection meeting held on January 10 to decide on the fate of Alok Verma.

The Congress leader has also asked a new CBI director to be appointed at the earliest.

According to the report, Kharge wants this "so that the public can draw its own conclusions in this matter."

In his letter, Kharge reportedly alleges that the “manipulative actions of the government are directly causing deep embarrassment to the Judiciary”.

Supreme Court-reinstated Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chief Alok Verma was removed last week by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-chaired committee.

Earlier, the apex court's  decision to reinstate him was seen as a setback to the Centre that had sent Verma on leave.
