Maharashtra: New anti-COVID-19 restrictions likely to be announced today

Mumbai/UNI: In the backdrop of a rise in COVID-19 positive cases as well as growing contagion of new variant Omicron across the state, new restrictions are likely to be announced by the state government on Friday.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is going to discuss with the State Task Force today.

With 23 new variant Omicron' patients detected across the state on Thursday, taking the tally to 88.

At present 7,897 active cases of Covid are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in the state.

Meanwhile, the state Chief Minister directed the members of the task force how to impose restrictions to prevent COVID-19 infection which will likely be announced today.

In view of the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, it will decide in today's meeting how to minimize the crowd as well as restrictions on crowds in hotels and restaurants for wedding ceremonies and parties.
