Maharashtra: Major accident leads to fire, disrupts highway traffic

Palghar/UNI: An oil tanker and a container were totally destroyed in a fire that broke out on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in the early hours of Monday.

Both the vehicles were proceeding towards Ahmedabad and when at around 4 AM the accident took place near Pelhar phata of Virar.

The loaded tanker rammed into the container which was ahead of it resulting in the fire in which both the vehicles were destroyed, stated police.

The driver of the tanker severely injured his leg has been hospitalized.

Three civic fire engines fought the blaze for over two hours before it was brought under control. The mishap disrupted the traffic for more than two hours, it said.
