Maharashtra: 4 injured as foot over-bridge collapsed at Ballashah Railway Station in Chandrapur

Chandrapur/Nagpur: A portion of the foot over-bridge, about 60 feet high, on Ballarshah Railway Station in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district collapsed on Sunday, Railway sources said.

According to the sources, the incident took place at around 5 pm on Sunday evening when a portion in the middle of the over-bridge collapsed while some passengers were crossing the track.

The sources further said that the passengers were moving from platform number 1 to 4 to catch Kazipeth-Pune Express,when the bridge collapsed on the railway track.

About 20 people collapsed on the railway track, said the sources.

Four persons sustained serious injuries and their condition is stated to be critical.

The rescue operations is underway at the railway station, the sources said.

The injured have been shifted to a hospital.

Railway has announced ex gratia Rs 1 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 50,000 to those who sustained minor injuries.
