Like Russia, India does not want 'outside' influence in India's internal matters: PM Narendra Modi

Vladivostok (Russia), Sep 4 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said in a crystal manner that India does not want any 'outside influence' in its internal matters.

At the end of 20th bilateral Annual Summit between India and Russia, both sides inked a historic Memorandum of Intent seeking to have a full fledged maritime route that serves as a link between Chennai and Vladivostok.

The pact was inked between the Ministry of Shipping of Government of India and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on the Development of Maritime Communications.

"We are adding new sectors to the already strong partnership between India and Russia. A proposal has been made to have a full fledged maritime route that serves as a link between Chennai and Vladivostok," said a series of tweets from Prime Minister's Office.

At the talks, Prime Minister said - "Hum dono hi desh Kisi bhi desh ke antarim mamlon mein bahari dakhal ke khilaf hae (We both are against outside influence in the internal matters of any nation)".

India and Russia realise the importance of a multipolar world, he said adding "We are working together on many global forums like BRICS and SCO".

Prime Minister's remarks against 'influence' of any other nation on internal matters of India is significant as it comes in the wake of an effort being made by Pakistan to rope in support from countries such as the US and China to expedite peace talks with India especially in the context of abrogation of a special Article in Jammu and Kashmir.

India has told Pakistan time and again that talks can take place only when Islamabad takes convincing actions against terror hideouts in that country.

"The India-Russia friendship is not restricted to their respective capital cities. We have put people at the core of this relationship," Prime Minister said adding the power of India-Russia friendship has been leveraged for the mutual benefit of the citizens in both the countries.

"I remember the Annual Summit of 2001, the first one held in Russia when Mr. Putin was President and I had come in Atal Ji’s delegation as Gujarat Chief Minister," Modi said.
