Kolkata, Sept 11 (IBNS): Eight left trade unions, including the CPI-M affiliated Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) , have threatened that if the West Bengal government did not fulfill their demands, they will start a non-stop taxi strike in the city from Sept 18.
They also warned that after Sept 19, other public transport workers will take part in that strike as well.
Among the demands of the unions are withdrawal of the increased spot fine in refusal cases and to ensuring that there is no police high-handedness by police.

West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra has not reacted yet on the threat.

On Wednesday, transport workers, including taxi drivers, bus/minibus drivers, auto drivers, took part in a protest rally in the city.
