Kolkata: Traffic sergeant assaulted by reckless bike riders, 4 held

Kolkata, Oct 9 (IBNS): A sergeant of the Kolkata Traffic Police was allegedly beaten by few bike riders on Saturday midnight at Tollygunge area in south Kolkata, reports said.

According to reports, the sergeant stopped a bike for over speeding in front of Tollygunge Police Station and seized the bike as the riders were reckless and not wearing helmet.

Later the bikers called their companions and as many as six youths allegedly assaulted the traffic sergeant.

On Sunday morning, police booked four youths in connection with the incident and are searching for others, involved the case.

The Kolkata Traffic Police have strengthened its operations to catch reckless and helmetless bikers during Puja days in the city, while at least six persons have been killed so far due to bike accidents in Kolkata since Panchami.
