Kolkata photographer says he received death threat after posting model's nude picture in bridal make-up shoot

Kolkata, Aug 25 (IBNS): A young wedding photographer from Kolkata on Friday lodged a complaint with the city police alleging that he had received death threat after posting a nude photo of a model in bridal make-up on social media, reports said.

Southern Kolkata's Patuli area's resident Pritam Mitra, who has been working as a professional wedding photographer for last five years, registered the complaint with city police's Cyber Crime Cell at Kolkata Police headquarters, Lalbazar, in the morning.

According to reports, the photographer recently posted a nude photo of a city model in bridal make-up on Facebook and the image went viral after a Facebook page, The Bong Crush, shared the picture on its wall on Wednesday.

The wedding photographer claimed that Raj Sarkar Rinku, a city youth who claimed to be a promoter of the establishment of Hinduism, on Thursday posted a status on Facebook criticizing the photograph and issuing death threat. He also shared the photographer's mobile number in the post.

"Since Thursday, I have been receiving death threat on various social media platforms and threat calls as well," the young lensman, Pritam Mitra, told IBNS.

"I am very scared and beside lodging police complaint, I have temporarily deactivated my social media accounts and switched off my cellphone," the photographer added.

City police's cyber crime cell, however, has initiated a probe into the case.

"An investigation has been initiated into the case and we are examining the social media posts with death threats and all other aspects as well," a senior official of Kolkata Police told IBNS.
