Kolkata midnight shooting: Main accused Nanti arrested from Gujarat

Kolkata, Jul 20 (IBNS): The Kolkata Police on Sunday arrested the main accused Nanti in connection with Haridevpur midnight firing incident.

One pedestrian was gunned down and two others were injured by bullets when some miscreants fired indiscriminately near Kobordanga area under Haridevpur Police Station in Kolkata on July 8. The firing incident occurred following a brawl at a bar located in the area.

Joint CP (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh told IBNS: "Anti-Rowdy Squad of Kolkata Police's Detective Department has arrested the main accused Bablu Ghosh alias Nanti from Surat airport area in Gujarat."

"Nanti is the main accused in this case...But we could not recover any fire-arms from him," Pallab Kanti Ghosh said.

He was produced at the Alipore court on Monday and was sent to police custody till July 30.

Police had earlier arrested Bijay Bhowmik, Ganesh Adhikary, Bappa Ghosh, Samir Bag, Dhananjay Mistri and Samrat Mondal in connection with the case.
