Kolkata, Jan 24 (IBNS): Thirteen Left parties, including the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Communist Party of India (CPI), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) and Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI), on Saturday organized a march from Esplanade area to the American Center in Kolkata to protest against US President Barack Obama's visit to India.

Left Front chairman Biman Basu, opposition leader of West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suryakanta Mishra, CPI-M leader Rabin Deb, CPI leader Manju Kumar Majumder and other top leaders of the parties joined the rally.

Almost 1000 people walked in the protest march, reports said.

Making a barricade, the police stopped the rally near Park Street crossing, 150 meters away from the American Center.

Meanwhile, US president Barack Obama and wife Michelle on Saturday left for their three-day visit to India.

Obama will be coming to India on an invitation by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend this year's Republic Day parade.
