Kolkata, Nov 9 (IBNS): A fire broke out in a restaurant at New Market in Kolkata's downtown Esplanade area on Thursday morning, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 10:30 am. inside a restaurant, metres away from Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarter.

As many as four fire tenders, local police and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the scene and firemen are currently fighting to douse the blaze.

A fire and emergency services official told IBNS that the fire might have started after an LPG cylinder exploded in the restaurant.

A police official confirmed that no casualty has been reported in the incident while everyone has been evacuated from the area.

"The fire has been arrested and the cooling off process is underway there," a fire and emergency services officer told IBNS.
