Kolkata: Fire breaks out at Allahabad Bank's branch

Kolkata, Jul 5 (IBNS): The major fire, which break out in Allahabad Bank's branch at Exchange Place area in central Kolkata on Tuesday morning, has been brought under control.
According to reports, the fire was first seen around 9:15 am. inside bank's server room on third floor of the building.
 
As many as 10 fire tender engines rushed to the spot. Fire minister and Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee visited the scene here.
 
Firemen fought for nearly 3 hours to douse the massive blaze.
 
However, no casualty was reported in the incident. Few computers and several documents of the bank were gutted completely.
 
Fire department has started investigation into the matter to know the exact reason behind the fire.
 
"The fire might start due to a short circuit in AC machine. We will clarify the reason of fire after proper investigation," one senior official of West Bengal Fire department told IBNS.
 
Chairman of Allahabad Bank, Rakesh Sethi told IBNS, "We are confirming that our all staff are safe. Once the building is given back to us, then we will go and have an internal audit and see what was the cause."
