Kolkata, Jul 5 (IBNS): The suspected terrorist, who was detained on Monday from Burdwan station, was arrested on Tuesday after hour- long interrogation, officials said.

The suspect, Md. Masiruddin alias Mussa, was held from Howrah to Rampurhat bound Viswabharati Fast Passenger train at Burdwan railway station on Monday late evening. After preliminary interrogation at Burdwan GRP outpost, he was taken to West Bengal Police's headquarters Bhabani Bhawan in Kolkata, where he was quizzed by Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials for hours.

After investigators found his links with Syrian terror group Islamic States (IS), Mussa was booked on Tuesday afternoon, sources said.

"At the preliminary level, we thought the man had links with Bangladeshi terror group Jamaat Ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). But after interrogating the man, we have found his links with IS. An android smartphone and two sim cards were recovered from his possession. We have found his regular conversation with IS leaders, including Safi Armar, in Syria and Afghanistan through email and messenger. Several foreign transactions with his bank account are also found," one CID source told IBNS.

During a press conference here at Bhabani Bhawan, ADG of WB CID, Dilip Kumar Adak said, "The 25-year-old suspect Md. Masiruddin alias Mussa is a resident of Birbhum's Labhpur arae was staying in Tamilnadu's Tirupur with his wife and two children since past few years. He was going to his home in Birbhum's Labhpur from Tamilnadu via Howrah station and Kolkata. We had source information that the man might have links with IS. He was detained from Viswabharati Fast Passenger yesterday."

"Besides interrogating the suspect, we visited several places along with him. A 4" sharp knife, which he was bought from Esplanade, an improvised small firearm and three round bullets have been seized from his possession. He will be produced tomorrow in Howrah court. We are verifying his contacts and mobile data to confirm terror link. At this stage, when the investigation is in primary level, I won't share more details right now," Adak further said.

Meanwhile, two more suspects, who were waiting at Ahmedpur station for Mussa, have been detained and are being questioned now, sources said.
