Kolkata, Feb 10 (IBNS): The fire, which broke out in a Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC)'s sub station near Hind Cinema hall under Bow Bazar Police Station area in central Kolkata on Wednesday, has been brought under control.
The blaze was first seen around 9:30 am. at the CESC sub station and as many as ten fire tender engines rushed to the spot to douse the flame. Fire fighters fought for hours to bring the fire under control.

After the fire broke out, CESC had stopped electricity supply from the sub station for safety. Power in a major area in central part of the city, including two important hospitals, few police stations and metro stations, reportedly went out for nearly 20 minutes.

After preliminary investigation fire brigade officials said that the fire might have started due to short circuit.

However, no casualty has been reported so far.
