Kolkata: In a twist to the Kolkata car crash incident, police on Wednesday arrested Raghib, the elder scion of restaurant chain Arsalan, who was driving the Jaguar which crashed into a police kiosk at the Loudon Street here and killed two Bangladeshi men last week, media reports said.

Earlier 22-year old Arsalan Parvez, the younger brother of Raghib (25), was arrested.

"Arsalan Parvez’s elder brother was driving the car at the time (late in the night of August 16). He has also confessed it during preliminary interrogation. He was arrested today (Wednesday afternoon) along with their maternal uncle (Mohammed Hamza)," Joint CP (Crime) Murlidhar Sharma has been quoted by The Indian Express.

Parvez has also confessed that he was not at the wheel when the accident took place.

Raghib was helped by his uncle to fly off to Dubai. However, the accused returned to the city on Monday night, report said.

The two Bangladeshi nationals were killed when the speeding Jaguar rammed into them after hitting a Mercedes Sedan at 1:50 pm on Saturday.

The two luxury vehicles went out of control and crushed the victims against a wall. The victims, who were standing outside a Kolkata Police Traffic outpost to escape the rain, were taken to hospital where they were declared brought dead. The third Bangladeshi national could manage to escape after being hit by the car.

The Bangladeshis had come to Kolkata for medical treatment of the third person.
