Kolkata: BJP protesters scuffle with police during rally

| | Nov 08, 2016, at 11:17 pm
Kolkata, Nov 8 (IBNS): A large number of BJP activists on Tuesday afternoon engaged in a scuffle with the police force in central Kolkata, when their protest march was stopped by the Kolkata Police.

The state unit of BJP held a rally in heart of the city over several demands of enclave dwellers.

Alleging that the rally did not have permission, police stopped it and BJP activists started road blockade on the Central Avenue area.

When police tried to lift up the blockade, protesters scuffled with the security personnel.

As many as 17 BJP activists, including party's state president Dilip Ghosh, were detained from the spot and policemen brought the situation under control very soon.

Due to the incident, traffic at that area was party disrupted for an hour.
