Kolkata: 10-yr-old dies in road accident

Kolkata, Apr 3 (UNI): A 10-year-old boy died and his grandmother was critically injured when the two-wheeler they were riding skidded and a lorry coming from behind hit them on Fidder Road under Belghoria Police Station, here on Wednesday.

According to police, Arka Shil was going to school today in the morning in a scooty driven by his grandmother.

The accident happened when suddenly his grandmother lost control over the vehicle and both of them fell on the road.

However, before they could revive from the fall, a speeding truck hit them.

They were immediately rushed to Sagar Dutta Hospital, where the doctors declared Arka brought dead.

The victims are the residents of Nimta in North 24 Parganas district, police said. Both were not fearing helmets, police added.

While the lorry was detained, the driver managed to escape, police said.
