Kharge compares Congress' state to Pandavas
New Delhi, June 10 (IBNS): Reacting over BJP parliamentarian Rajiv Pratap Rudy's jibe at Congress, leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday compared their state to Pandavas, characters from the mythological book Mahabharata.
"We may be 44 in Lok Sabha, but Pandavas will never be intimidated by a hundred Kauravas," Kharge said while concluding his speech during the discussion over the President's speech in the Lok Sabha
This came after Rudy took digs at the Congress' defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and said the NDA government now does not even have an opposition in the Lok Sabha.
However, he said the government will listen to everyone and take everyone along.
Highlighting various issues, Rudy said in India even tourism is being affected by the concern over safety of women as the influx of tourists from abroad has decreased.
He said the government will improve the power situation and the problem of water. "Even now people have to walk five km to get water in this country," he said.
Rudy said the government will hear what Sonia Gandhi has to say too but unlike the previous government they will not govern in a manner that one hand will not know what the other is doing.
He said everyone will be accountable.
He said the priority of the government will be good governance.
He said in India about 10 lakh people are rendered jobless every month. He said like China the option of solving the problem by shifting to non-farming sector from farming should be adopted.
He said the Congress is now like a regional party with ust 44 seats and is not even entitled to the Leader of Opposition post.
At the end of his speech, Rudy moved the motion of thanks for President's speech which was seconded by Ram Vilas Paswan.
