Thiruvananthapuram: Responding to the murder of two women in Elanthoor in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said the incident shocked the human conscience

Stating that the police unraveled the mysteries of this brutality during the investigation of a missing case registered on September 26 with the Kadavantra police, the Chief Minister said the police informed that the accused have stated that the murders were done as part of superstition.

A careful investigation by the police led to the discovery of a double murder from a missing case, he added.

"Legal action will be taken against such trends along with social vigilance. Everyone should come forward to identify such evil practices and bring them to public attention and stop them."

A thorough investigation is underway to bring all those involved in this crime to justice as soon as possible, he added.

Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muralidharan and State BJP President K Surendran also condemned the killing and urged the Government to take stern action against the culprits.
