Kashmir unrest : Four killed, 15 injured in firing after mob attack on police convoy

Srinagar, Aug 16 (IBNS) : Four civilians were killed and 15 others injured on Tuesday as security forces opened fire on protesters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday, reports said.

The incident occurred at Aripanthan area when protestors attacked a security force convoy.

Police say they opened fire to disperse the violent crowd that threw stones at a vehicle of the CRPF.

With four more deaths, the toll in the current unrest continuing since the encounter death of Burhan Wani has reached 64.

On Monday, one person was killed when security forces opened fire at protesters in Srinagar's Batamaloo area.

On Monday, a CRPF commandant and two militants were  also killed in a gun battle near a famous Sufi shrine in Srinagar. Nine security personnel were also wounded.
