Kashmir: Over 90 arrested, 460 fined for violating Covid curfew

Srinagar/UNI: Over 90 persons were arrested, 460 fined and 41 FIRs were registered against Covid curfew violators in the Kashmir valley, a police spokesman said on Thursday evening.

Since the outbreak of the 2nd wave of Coronavirus, police has enhanced its efforts to sensitise the masses about controlling the highly contagious Coronavirus.

A slew of measures including restrictions under Section 144 CrPC has been put into place to contain the spread of Covid-19.

In view of the record surge in daily cases across the Kashmir Valley, police also enhanced the efforts to implement the Covid-19 guidelines, SOPs and restrictions strictly throughout the valley.

During the last 24 hrs, police have arrested 92 persons, lodged 41 FIRs and also realized a fine to the tune of Rs 76,090 from 460 people for violating the guidelines and rules throughout the Kashmir valley.

The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/ guidelines envisaged by the government to curb COVID-19 pandemic.

Community members have been requested to cooperate with the police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs, guidelines and protocols for the safety of the people.

The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures.
