Kashmir journalist thrashed by police escorting minister

Srinagar, June 22 (IBNS) A journalist was allegedly assaulted by police escorting Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Minister Ghulam Nabi Lone in Srinagar on Monday.

The incident took place when Javaid Malik, a senior editor with a local newspaper, tried to seek the  minister's intervention after his security guards allegedly passed a lewd comment on Malik's wife, reports said.

Security men allegedly stopped Malik and  beat him up ruthlessly.

Later, they bundled him into a vehicle and threw him near a police station.

Malik has lodged an FIR with the police regarding the incident.
