Karnataka's excise minister H Y Meti resign following allegations of sexual misconduct

Bengaluru, Dec 14 (IBNS): Karnataka's excise minister H Y Meti has resigned on Wednesday following alleged charges of sexual misconduct, according to media reports on Wednesday.

Meti submitted his resignation to to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who accepted it and ordered a probe.

A tweet on the Chief Minister's official Twitter page read, "Excise Minister Shri HY Meti has resigned. I have recommended to Honble Governor to accept the resignation. I have also ordered a probe."

Meti’s resignation came soon after local television channels started telecasting blurred footage allegedly of him seen with a woman in a compromising position, reported The Hindu.

According to reports, on Sunday, an RTI activist named Rajashekhar had alleged that the excise minister had asked sexual favour from a woman in return for a transfer but there was confusion over who the woman was.
