Karnataka: Lingayats watching what Congress offers to their MLAs, says Bommai

| @indiablooms | May 17, 2023, at 07:22 pm

Bengaluru/UNI: Caretaker Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said the Lingayat community is watching what due positions the Congress party gives to the community leaders in the new state government.

"Let us see what they do. Congress leaders have talked so much about Lingayats. They tried to appease them. So, let us see what due positions they give - either they give the office of the chief minister or deputy chief minister. Let us see. And the community also will be watching," he told reporters here.

Bommai also said the Congress should choose Karnataka chief minister as soon as possible because people's aspirations are more important than politicking.

Bommai's remark comes in the wake of hectic lobbying for the chief minister's post by Sidddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar after the Congress registered a thumping victory in Karnataka, ousting the BJP government.

The duo have been holding meetings with top brass of the party including Rahul Gandhi at New Delhi.
