Guwahati, Oct 23 (IBNS) : Assam’s Karbi militant group Karbi People's Liberation Tigers (KPLT) has declared ceasefire and sent a letter to the Union government.

Assam police Special DG Kuladhar Saikia said the outfit group had sent a formal letter to the Union Home Ministry on Oct 17 and wished to agree on ceasefire agreement with the government.

“The General Secretary of the outfit group had signed in the letter sent to Union Home Ministry. In the letter the outfit group had expressed their desire to come into mainstream,” the top corps said.

“Government will decide on the ceasefire agreement,” the Assam police Special DG said.

KPLT is active in Central Assam’s Karbi Anglong and Nagaon district.

The KPLT, earlier known as anti-talks faction of the Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF-ATF), was formed on Jan 8, 2011.
